I was hunting in a large field on our place the other day and heard a helicoper that seemed to be getting really close. I looked over a hill that the noise was coming from and saw a small helicopter with 2 men in it about 300 yards away at the end of our field. They look as if they were going to buzz the field but it seems like they saw the truck parked out of the field on the road that leads to the field and immediately turned off. I do know that our land owner gave the state perission this year to help the hog problem. This was on a thursday right before dark. It was accually really cool to see that but i am just wonder who it was. Any Ideas?

Nope not a clue. Im leaning towards the trapper becasue im sure if the warden knew we were in then he would have paid us a visit. But i kinda hope it was the warden. I dont think there are enough of those guys.

We had the same thing happen on our place last year! When we talked to the land owner about it he said it was government trappers and they had permission to do it! Usually they will notify the land owner before they do any fly overs!

I saw something like that before but on the border, so I tougth it was the border patrol but we found out that the neighbor was basically chasing does and deer to make them go into his property. Can you believe that. Tha's been confirmed by the GW

sounds like trappers to me as well, i would call the gw and ask if he knew of any such thing going on around your parts

Small chance it could have been a deer survey, but I would expect that to be in off-season.

I've seen the ranchers in our area use a small helicopter to locate cattle and point the cowboys in the right direction when looking for strays

This happens on the ranch I hunt. It is the federal guys and normally the land owner is aware of the timing. They have to give them permission to shoot over their property. Man this would be the job! Flying around shooting coyotes and hogs. I know of one 1100 acre ranch they killed 80 hogs off of.

I saw a idiot doing that near our land in Dryden, TX. It looked like he was trying to run deer into a gap in his High fence. So basically, stealing deer.
